María Carmen Ruiz-Abellón received her Ph.D (with distinction) and M.Sc degrees in Mathematics from the University of Murcia (Spain) in 2002 and 1998, respectively. Since October 1999, she has been with the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Spain.
Since 2007, she has collaborated in studies related to the analysis of time series (prices and loads) in Energy Markets. Her main research lines include the analysis of time series, models for load forecasting (long, medium and short term), machine learning and clustering, which are key techniques to develop suitable Demand Response programs. In 2011, she started her collaboration in the field of entropy measurements and their applications in time series. At the same time, she has collaborated with researchers of other fields such as computing, medicine or the environment, which have led to several research articles.
In the last ten years, she has participated in 7 competitive research projects (responsible researcher in 1 of them) and 7 R&D contracts (responsible researcher in 5 of them) with different companies, utilities and business associations. Since her beginnings as a researcher in 2000, she has published 27 papers in JCR journals, which have been cited in 323 documents (Scopus April 2022), she has participated in the organization of 2 congresses and she has presented more than 30 communications to national and international conferences.
