Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Manufacturing from Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) since year 2021.

Visiting Scholar at the Gear Research Center of the University of Illinois at Chicago, in United States, during two years (2001-2003). Visiting Scientist at the Gear Research & Development Department of Yamaha Motor Company, in Japan, during five months (2005). Visiting Scientist at the Gear Research Lab of the Rochester Institute of Technology at Rochester NY, in the United States of America (USA), during five months (2017). 

Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering at UPCT in 2003 for his thesis: "Design, Simulation of Meshing, Tooth Contact Analysis and Stress Analysis of Spur and Helical Gear Drives with Low Level of Noise and Improved Bearing Contact". M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Murcia in 1999. Teaching Machine Mechanics and Design of Machine Elements since year 2000 at UPCT.

Performed research on the following topics: design, generation and simulation of meshing of advanced gear drives; development of techniques for the design and analysis of gear drives based on geometry comparison, tooth contact analysis, and finite element analysis; diagnosis of gear drives; development of techniques of design based on reverse engineering of gear drives; development of the computational tool IGD (Integrated Gear Design) for the technology transfer to corporations in collaboration with the Gear Research Lab of the Rochester Institute of Technology in USA.

Academic appointments: Secretary of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2010-2015) and Head of the same department (2015-2018) at UPCT. Principal Researcher of the Advanced Gear Drives Research Group at UPCT since year 2015.

Author of 37 articles in journals with JCR, 24 of them in Q1, related to gear geometry and applied theory. Co-author of the book Non-Circular Gears: Design and Generation, published in Cambridge University Press in 2009. H-index of 18 in Scopus with more than 1000 citations on his 62 registered documents. Outstanding three periods of six-year research work (2000-2005, 2006-2011, 2012-2017) recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. In the period 2018-2021, the research activity has provided 5 articles Q1, 4 articles Q2, 3 book chapters and 3 articles in no-JCR journals. He has participated in six three-year-period research projects of the Spanish Program for Research, Development and Innovation. In two of these projects, he has acted as Principal Researcher.

He has participated in a four-year-period research project of the Spanish Program for Scientist Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011, that has been led by the corporation Precision Mechanical Developments S.L. He has led some research contracts with corporations such as Soltec Renewable Energies S.L (2015)., Precision Mechanical Developments S.L. (2015), Gamesa Energy Transmissions S.A. (2018) and Iwasa Tech. Co. Ltd. (2019) with a total budget of 134833 euros.
