Full Professor in Food Process Engineering

CV Summary

He studied Agricultural Engineering (1981) at the Technical University of Valencia (UPV, Spain), where he received PhD in 1986, in Food Technology and Engineering. University Professor and Researcher since 1987 in Food Process Engineering, at Technical University of Catalonia (Spain), University of Navarra (Spain), CEMAGREF (Montpellier, France), and Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT, Spain). He is Director of Research Group at the UPCT focused on Refrigeration Engineering and Food Safety. This Group has received the Isaac Peral Award from the UPCT, the most outstanding Research Group in R & D Projects of this University during the years 2006 and 2016. It is one of the founder (in 2002), and presides over since then, the Spanish Society of Refrigeration Sciences and Techniques (SECYTEF, http://secytef.upct.es/), which brings together the most outstanding Spanish researchers in this field. He is a Member of Commission D1 (and before of B2 Commission) of the International Institute of Refrigeration (since 1992 to the present). He is Associated Editor of the "Food Engineering Reviews" (an international journal, of Q1 in the field of Food Science and Technology). National Research Prize 2017 in Aquaculture (Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) for its work of applying ice with nanoencapsulated agents for the improvement of animal welfare and the conservation of farmed fresh fish quality.
