In this paper, we present an experimental position-aware IEEE 802.l1b mobile video service1. For example, it may be used to deliver TV channels to PDAs in airport terminals. Instead of implementing progressive encoding-which increases content bandwidth-we rely on transcoding rate adaptation to support position-awareness. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2004.
