Nowadays, there is a growing interest in using computational algorithms in graphic diagnostic and model analysis techniques. A clear example would be computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (RMI), which are applied to various medical specialities. This document aims at providing a better understanding of the use of genetic algorithms (GA) as a tool in graphic diagnostic techniques and model analysis. GA have been used in different disciplines, for example, for template matching on CT images or 3D images reconstruction by fitness function optimization by an error-based method. This work focuses on studying the different methods used and presents a comparative evaluation of the results achieved in the literature.
