© 2016 IEEE. This paper shows how the coupling between different leaky modes can be efficiently computed, to accurately obtain its effect on the radiation pattern of tapered leaky-wave antennas. The particular case of meander-long-slot rectangular waveguide antenna is analyzed, illustrating the coupling between the main perturbed waveguide leaky mode and the undesired channel-guide leaky mode. Dispersion analysis of both modes must be carried out as a function of frequency and also as a function of the tapered geometry, to efficiently compute the effect of this coupling in the performance of this type of antennas.
