Accurate analysis and modeling of compact CPW-fed printed antennas

An accurate analysis of Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed printed antennas on very small ground planes is presented in this work. A new excitation model within an MPIE-MoM frame has been developed to design such antennas. This model has first been validated on a CPW-fed slot-coupled patch antenna and then successfully applied to the design of a slot antenna printed on a very small ground plane suitable for WLAN applications. Input impedance and full range radiation diagrams are presented together with measured results showing the accuracy of the method. © 2000 IEEE.
