CMOS analog implementation of a simplified spinal cord neural model

This paper presents a current mode analog synthesis of a spinal cord simplified model. The model represents a group of neurons involved in the human motor control and has been implemented using a CMOS technology. The network is structured as a dual channel control system with feedback, which performs integral and proportional control over a single limb movement. For the implementation of the network, we have taken the theoretical model and introduced some simplifications in order to obtain a first prototype. As we advance in our research we will progressively refine the implementation to obtain the complete theoretical model. The main application for such circuit is to be used in a future as a prosthetic device in people with motor control deficiencies. Other application, near in time, its the use of such circuit as controller for industrial robots, providing them with a compliance performance which do not have at the moment.
