Position:

  • Associate Professor (tenured, civil servant) in Hydraulic Engineering since 2020.

  • Vice-Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Mining Engineering for more than 5 years (start: 2019 - end: 2024).
  • Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (international quality label EUR-ACE®) for more than 5 years (start: 2019 - end: 2024).
  • Coordinator of the Master's Degree in BIM Methodology for the Development of Infrastructure Projects for more than 3 years (start: 2020 - end: 2024).


R & D experience:

  • Principal Investigator of 8 R&D projects funded by public calls; he has participated in the elaboration of more than 25 R&D projects funded by public calls, and more than 30 R&D contracts of special relevance with companies and/or administrations. 
  • The research work has been published in more than 40 publications indexed in Web of Science (https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/1831472), and more than 100 communications in congresses (mostly of international scope). The publications deal with laboratory measurements and numerical models of energy dissipation in hydraulic structures, air-water flows, nonlinear weirs, sediment transport, scour downstream of the dams, intake systems, flooding studies, among others.
  •  Research stays at the "Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios en Recursos Hídricos" (CIERHI) of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (Ecuador), the Centro de Estudios Hidrográficos (CEH) of the "Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas" (CEDEX), and the Instituto Superior Técnico - University of Lisbon (Portugal).
  • Reviewer in 30 journals indexed in Web of Science, with more than 200 verified peer reviews (https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/1831472).
  • Participant in the organization of several national and international congresses (including 5 editions of the IAHR Young Professionals Congress).


Teaching experience:

  • Co-supervisor of 2 doctoral theses, supervisor of more than 20 final dissertations (in Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and in Master's Degree in Civil Engineering), supervisor of research dissertations for more than ten Erasmus students (from the European and non-European countries), and coordinator of more than 20 scholarships and contracts in R & D.
  • Coach in 3 editions of the IAHR Young Professionals Hydro-Environment challenges.
  • Coordinator of 9 courses of non-formal education (e.g., open channel flows, sewer systems, water supply systems, amgon others), 
  • Participant in 5 teaching stays under the ERASMUS+ programme in Portugal (x2), Germany, France and Latvia.
  • Coordinator of 3 Scientific Olympics funded by public calls, and participant in more than 20 projects and teaching innovation activities.
