PhD in Ph.D. from Polytechnical University of Valencia (SPAIN) - 1991

Antonio Gabaldón,  Industrial Engineer. M.Sc. (1988) and Ph.D. (1991) from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain). In 1989 he made a pre-doctoral visit at the Université de Montréal. He has been a professor both at the University of Murcia from 1990 to 1999, and at the Spanish Air Army Academy of San Javier (1993-2008). Since 2003, he has been a University Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of the Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT). His lines of research are focused on the analysis of electrical distribution systems, electrical markets, demand response, energy efficiency, railways traction and non-invasive monitoring techniques.
He has participated as a researcher in several R & D projects funded by public calls both national and international (EU, Nato-Grants).
He has been Main Investigator (IP) in four R&D projects granted by the Spanish Government (2007-2021), projects focused on Demand Response and Energy Efficiency. He is a member of REDYD2050 research network (2015-22).
He has also participated in R & D contracts of special relevance with companies, utilities and public administrations, of which he has been responsible researcher in 2 of them.
Part of the results of his research activity are around 35 research articles in international scientific journals: 25 of them have been published in well-known indexed journals. These works have been referenced more than 1200 times in 1000 scientific articles (source Scopus 2025). His h index is 17. He has directed 4 doctoral theses and currently directs several doctoral theses within the lines of research proposed in the thematic network REDYD-2050.
He has been coordinator of doctorate programs with a "quality label" (Spanish Government). He is also a regular reviewer of Spanish National Assessment Agencies, and scientific journals listed in the JCR-ISI, for instance: IEEE T. on Power Systems, IEEE T. on Power Delivery, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology; IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution; Energy Efficiency and Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy (Springer); Applied Energy (Elsevier); and Energies, Sustainability and Applied Sciences (MDPI, Switzerland).

He has been guest editor of Special Issues "Short-Term Load Forecasting" 2019, 2021 and 2023 (Energies, MDPI), and now is "Topic editor" of Short-Term Load Forecasting  (2025) for several MDPI Journals (Energies, Applied Sciences, Sustainability, Forecasting and Algorithms).

He is the administrator and creator of the contents of the reserach web page http://www.demandresponse.eu

He has held academic positions as Dean of the ETSII of Cartagena (1999-2008), and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Doctorate (2008-10).
